Oven Repair

How it gets described on the phone
- Preheat that crawls, then a bake that browns on one shelf and not the other
- Igniter glowing steadily without the burner ever catching
- Door standing proud at a top corner with heat washing out along the seal
- Cycle locking out partway through and a code that comes straight back after a reset
What gets tested on the visit
- Cavity temperature logged at the rack with an independent probe against what the display reports
- Preheat timed end to end, and the swing either side of setpoint watched through two full cycles
- Igniter current draw measured — a glow igniter can look healthy and still be too weak to open the valve
- Oven sensor resistance checked cold and hot against the specification for that model
- Door alignment, hinge tension and gasket compression along the whole seal
A weak glow igniter is the fault that gets misdiagnosed most often, because it glows. The valve it feeds opens on current, not on light, so an igniter drawing under specification will sit there looking correct while the gas never arrives. It is a meter reading, not a judgement call, and it takes a few minutes to settle.
